“ After a brewery hopping around the area my boyfriend and I were starving so we decided to stop by for some food. It is conveniently located less than a quarter mile from Funky Buddha so it would have been a quick walk but we were way too inebriated for that so we Ubered. The spot is a little hole in the wall with limited tables and plenty of Salvadoran decor. Our server was quick to take our order and our food came out pretty fast. What We Tried: Sopa de res: Beef soup with root veggies and a side of rice. This is always my go to at central american restaurants. It's a hearty soup made from scratch that is excellent when you're starving and/or hung over. I would definitely order it again. Pupusas: The Salvadoran staple. The must have whenever you visit a restaurant like this. This particular spot has quite a selection of them. We opted for the shrimp and cheese one which had not tried before and it was excellent. We also had a revuelta one which is stuffed with refried beans, cheese and crushed pork rinds. They were so good that I even called my friend to tell her how good they were and she asked me to take some to her. She didn't eat them, she inhaled them. We will definitely be back to try some more! Tamales: We tried two different ones, one savory and one sweet. The savory one is large and came stuffed with veggies and either chicken or pork, i don't remember at this point. These were stellar. It's a meal in a leaf. The sweet one was a lot smaller and didn't come with anything inside. This one was whatever. I've had different versions of central american sweet tamales and this one was my least favorite. Carne Asada: The carne asada was unlike any carne asada I've had at any central american place. This one had a reddish orange tinge to it that I had not seen before. It tasted ok, didnt have the authentic taste that I am used to but it was tender and filling. It came with rice, refried beans and as our other side dish we requested their macaroni salad which was my favorite part of this dish! For the price ( approximately $40 for 4 pupusas, a soup, an entree, two tamales and two drinks) the value is phenomenal. The food is definitely enjoyable making this my new stop whenever I'm brewery hopping around the area again. ”
